Bold red lipstick is one of the 2008 beauty trends that's set to carry over into 2009. Harry Potter star Emma Watson paired her bright red lips with a simple coat of black mascara and a casual pony-tail with side-part.

It's not exactly what 2008's underwear as outerwear trend is all about, but Rihanna's H&M polka-dot bustier is certainly a match for her bold and slightly flamboyant personal style.

What is on trend, is Rihanna's bright pink lips. A makeup trend we're seeing more of, bright pink may not be for everyone but it does have a strong impact against Rihanna's darker skin tones.
