Introduction

Knowing what not to do to your just as important as what you do to create the hair of your dreams. Like everything in life, there are dos and don's.

Listed below are the top 10 ten actions you don't want to take when it comes to

1. Don't go to the salon unprepared to request the hairstyle you wish to wear.

Many hair consumers mistakenly believe that their hairdresser can work miracles, can read their mind and can instantly pick out the best hairstyle for them.

There are many variables to consider when it comes to selecting a hairstyle and it is up to the hair consumer to do their homework and research their own hair options. Face shape, lifestyle and budget all play into the final style selected.

2. Don't select a hairstyle or haircut that is impossible to maintain at home on your own.

While many Hollywood celebrities have a expert hairdresser at their fingertips to make sure their tresses look paparazzi perfect, most consumers have to deal with their hair without those constant hairdressing services.

3. Don't skimp on proper hair care or hair styling products

Some lines sold in drugstores may work for some types of hair and some styles. However, if you have highlighted or chemically processed hair or require added volume or control, the less expensive non-salon lines might not do the trick and could make styling your hair a constant challenge.

Consider your options. You may be able to compromise by buying both mass market and high quality products and alternate between them for best results. Or maybe your hairstyle requires high quality hair care lines. Be honest and don't work hard to achieve a great style only to undermine it with products that don't support it.

4. Don't use the wrong hairstyling tools

There are many different tools available to create fabulous styles. These tools range from blow dryers and curling irons to hot rollers and round brushes. Make sure you use the proper tools when re-creating your style.

If you're unsure what tools to use, ask your hairdresser to give you a lesson at the salon. It may be impossible to copy the style your professional hair consultant designed for you if you don't deploy the same styling techniques, products and tools.

5. Don't overuse hairstyling products

Less is more when it comes to utilizing styling products. If you overdo the gels, mousse and hair sprays you risk developing product build-up on your tresses which can make your hair misbehave.

6. Don't copy celebrity hairstyles without caution

Keep in mind that Demi Moore andcan wear just about any hairstyle their heart desires because they have professional hairdressers custom designing those styles to maximize their best features and minimizing their less attractive.

What looks fabulous on Demi and Jessica may not look the same on you unless you truly look exactly like them, have the same type of hair and wear the exact shade of and cosmetics. Set fair expectations and you won't be disappointed.

7. Don't ignore high end cosmetology schools as hairstyling options

Some of the higher end schools such as Toni & Guy and Paul Mitchell employ talented and seasoned professionals as instructors. The schools have very high standards for the quality of hairdresser they turn out. As a result, a high end cosmo school is a great place for getting some hairstyling work performed, even if it is just a slight shaping and trim to maintain your high priced style from a different salon.

In fact, a great option is to have your hairstyle created at a top notch salon but have maintenance performed at the cosmo schools to average out your hair style maintenance costs.

8. Don't be a slave to hair trends

Hairstyles change constantly as fashion change. Instead of being a slave to hair trends, find a hairstyle that works best for you and maintain that base look. If you want to update your tresses to keep them looking fresh, opt for a change in hair color, highlights, lowlights or slight texture. If you look great in a bob, keep that as your basic style but work with your hairdresser to keep it looking contemporary.

9. Don't ignore hair accessories as a fabulous hairstyling option

Some hair consumers mistakenly believe that hair accessories are only applicable for young people or certain types of hair. This is not correct. Any hair accessory can be adopted for any age, hair type, texture, fashion or style. Use these fabulous fashion accessories to instantly change your look without a trip to the salon.

10. Don't count out hair extensions as a way to achieve different hairstyles

Whether you want a temporary hairstyle change that a clip-in hair extension can offer or a more permanent change for 3-4 months, have come a long way towards affordability and high quality.

The Jessica Simpson clip-in hair extensions are a great first step towards experimenting with new hairstyles in the privacy of your home in just a few minutes.

If you enjoy the clip-in extensions then be bold and try a partial head of fusion style hair extensions for more lasting hairstyle options.

Summary

There can be just as many don'ts as there are dos when working with your own personal hairstyle. While it is important to follow the dos, it is also necessary to keep the don'ts in mind to achieve the hairstyle of your dreams.

TREASURE NECKLACES

The statement necklace isn’t departing the fashion world anytime soon and the latest incarnation is fun, fresh, and proving it’s worth on many of our favorite celebrities. We first took note of these statement necklaces when Sandra Bullock, making the rounds for the promotion of her film The Proposal, flashed a neck adorned in a “treasure chest” of necklaces. The idea is multi-layered, mixed and twisted, haphazard, and inspired by a pirate’s loot. We love it!

To wear this necklace trend, pair your treasure chest necklace with a LBD (Little Black Dress) for evening like Sandra, or another little dress in a single solid color. For a day look, wear your necklace with a simple tee or top and pair it with distressed ripped denim. A printed top or dress may take away from the treasure necklace and make the look too busy, but go ahead and experiment this trend with whatever you want, because fashion has no limits!

Formal Hairstyles

If you’ve ever felt pressure about your hairstyle before a wedding or fancy event, congratulations, you’re officially part of thousands of women who brush through every hairstyle gallery on the internet to find formal hairstyles and scour the magazine racks for hair style ideas. Surely you’re bound to find an overwhelming amount of different hairstyles but how do you know which ones will suit you for that special day? In one simple answer: try them all out. Obviously one can’t put on extensions, color their hair and undo everything they’ve done in a couple of hours to try something else with it however, by booking an appointment with a professional stylist, one can spend a couple of hours trying simpler ideas and getting professional advice based on shape face, features and complexion. Don’t wait until the day of the event to experiment yourself.

Whether your hair is short or long, no longer matters in this modern day of extensions. Because of this, a woman is never limited to the number or length of hairs on her head. Colors in every hue are on the hairstylists’ pallet and in a matter of minutes, one can enter a salon, choose anything from a formal hairstyles catalogue and wham, presto, she walks out with the very same look.

For most major events, the updo is perhaps the most popular hair trend to date. Fortunately, it’s been redesigned to go beyond the famous tightly rolled bun at the top of the head which is better left to ballet dancers. In this day and age, the updo has taken on an entirely new appeal with funky twists that give the ever classic look a seductive stylish feel. Looser hair, side swept bangs, a head full of curls are only a few of the many possible formal hairstyles created with an updo.

Men short hairstyles

A short hairstyle for men is usually a crew cut, spikes or anything David Beckham is sporting at the moment. But thanks to evolving times, a short hairstyle is no longer only for military men, “mama’s boys or preppy college students. Short hair on a man can look sharp, classy and even edgy if styled right. It’s the perfect length for a no fuss no muss man with a busy lifestyle. Fortunately, men’s hairstyles are not as complex as a woman’s but there is still a wide range of options to spice up any man’s short hairdo. Whoever said a man’s short hairstyle had to be simple clearly doesn’t research pictures of hair styles on the internet or magazines. Parted on the right, on the left, spiked up, brushed down, bangs combed forward, gelled back – there are many possibilities. Styling aids such as men’s hairstyle products are a fabulous way to enhance hair of any length and can be used as a part of a daily practice. In a worse case scenario, there’s always the ‘bad hair day’ hat routine but with some fun product exploration and hairstyle photos, a short haired man is sure to have few of those.

Smokey Cat Eyes Makeup

Smoky eyes can be very sexy, as long as they are done right. The smoky eyes makeup trend has become very popular in recent times and it has been seen on many celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Hayden Panettiere and Kate Hudson. As long as you are able to master the smoky eyes technique, it can be very easy to achieve this gorgeous look. Here are some makeup tips that will help ensure that your smokey eyes will look their best.

Be Sure to Choose the Right Makeup Colors for Smoky Eyes

It is possible for you to get smoky eyes with pretty much any eye makeup colors. However, if you want to get the most out of your smoky eye look, you will want to choose colors that look smoky. Eye shadow and eyeliner shades that you will want to consider using include shades of gray, black, purple and even brown. Certain shades of blue may even work, though it is important to make sure that you are not opting for bright makeup shades. You will need three different colors. No matter what colors you choose, make sure that they are similar to one another. For example, you would not want to mix blue with purple. Choosing varying shades of the same color is best. Examples include light and dark shades of purple or shades of grays and black.

Begin Applying Eye Shadow to Your Upper Eyelid

How to Get Smokey Cat Eyes
How to Get Smokey Cat Eyes

It is best to start by applying eye shadow to your upper eyelid. First, you should apply the lightest eye shadow color. You will want to cover the entire eyelid with it, extending from the eyelashes to the brown bone. Next, you will want to add a medium shade of eye shadow. Begin it towards the eyelashes and extend it to the crease of your eyelid. Lastly, you will want to apply darkest shade of eye shadow. Begin the application close to your eyelashes and end it about halfway to your eyelid crease. You should smear it upwards for a smoky eye appearance. With all three eye shadow colors, it is very important for you to make sure that you blind them in with one another.

Apply Eye Shadow and Eyeliner to Your Lower Eyelid

Apply eye shadow to your lower eyelid, right beneath the lower eyelashes. Smear it in with your fingers, but make sure that it does not clump underneath your eye. It is important for it to look natural. Then, use your eyeliner to draw a thin line on your lower eyelid. For the most subtle look, try to opt for a lighter shade of eyeliner, such as dark gray.

The first time that you try out the smoky eyes makeup technique, you may find that it seems a bit difficult. However, with practice and patience, it is likely that you will be able to create smoky eyes like a professional after you have tried it out several times.

Keep in mind that you may not want the smokey eye appearance on a daily basis, but it can be a great touch when you go out at night.

Bad Hair Day

Put Your Hair Up

Whether you opt for a ponytail or bun hairstyle, putting your hair up is a great way for you to cover up the fact that you are having a bad hair day. Not only may it help your hair look less messy than it would if you leave it down, but in some cases, it may even make it seem like you are going for a messier look.

2. Use Hairspray or Gel

If the reason that you are having a bad hair day is due to frizz, you may want to consider using a hairspray or gel. When possible, you may even want to opt for a frizz control product, but any hairspray or gel should help you keep the frizz down. Using a hairstyling product can be a great choice whether you are planning to wear your hair down or up.

3. Wear a Headband

Headbands are very trendy accessories. One of the good things about them is that hey take less attention away from your hair, which can really help you out if you are having a bad hair day. Another one of the good things about headbands is that they will help in controlling any loose frizz in the front of your head, by ultimately holding it in place.

4. Use a Leave-in Conditioner

Spritz your hair with a leave-in conditioner if you are having a problem with tangles, knots or even frizz. The moisture that is provided through a leave-in conditioner can really help you out in many ways when you have a bad hair day. It is something that you should have on hand whenever possible.

5. Don't Style Hair Until it is Dry

If you want your hairstyle to last the entire day, then it is important to make sure that you do not style your hair until it is fully dry. The main reason is because hair does not usually take well to any of the styling methods that you may use when it is wet. This is especially true about straightening the hair. It is likely that no matter what is done to your hair when it is wet, it will frizz out or become messy throughout the day.

If you choose to do one or more of these things during a bad hair day, it is likely that it will look much better than it would have. The most important thing is for you to remember not to let a bad hair day to overtake your hair. You have the ability to improve your hair during a bad hair day, do not feel like it is something that you absolutely need to deal with. Even if you choose to easily throw your hair into a ponytail, you will be improving your hairstyle during a bad hair day.

Fancy Dress Hire

he initial thought of most people when coming up with fancy dress party ideas is to hire a fancy dress costume. Fancy dress costume hire has the advantage of being able to return the costume after the party, but consider the fact that most fancy dress shops wont stock any where near the 10,000 fancy dress costumes online available from Jokers' masquerade, and many of which are in a variety of different sizes. There are a few fancy dress hire online options, but to date most don't offer a huge variety of costumes and you can never be sure what condition your costume will arrive in.

Hiring a fancy dress costume can also work out more expensive than purchasing a cheap fancy dress costume, Jokers' Masquerade have a huge variety of online fancy dress costumes that are as cheap or cheaper than hiring a costume and because you own it and arrives brand new, this has to be a better deal.

Tip: If you never plan to wear the costume again, why not sell it on a site like Ebay after the fancy dress party, who knows your brand new Pirate Costume may end up costing you nothing!

Halloween Fancy Dress

Costume parties where people dress up in a variety of fancy dress outfits are now most commonly held during Halloween celebrated on the 31st October. The name comes from the feast of All Hallows or All Saints Day celebrated on the 1st November in honor of all the saints. The Halloween festival is actually a celebration of the end of the harvest in Gaelic culture and spread to America with the Irish immigrants and became part of popular culture.

Halloween traditions include 'trick or treating', making bonfires, visiting haunted houses and of course dressing up in fancy dress costumes and attending costume parties. Halloween fancy dress themes usually involve dressing up in a scary fancy dress costume like traditional ghost costumes and witch costumes. More modern alternatives like the scary movie ghost costumes, Dracula and other vampire costumes, Darth Vader Costumes, Skeleton Costumes and other scary film characters like The Addams family and Leatherface, the star of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are becoming increasingly popular.

Tokyo’s Fashion

Currently residing in Tokyo, Japan, I have noticed that beauty is something necessary for many females and males. Most women carry around designer bags and highly decorated cell phones with sparkle and flowers. Men carry designer wallets and wear cowboy fashioned shoes. One can easily notice that the people in Tokyo pay very close attention to the way they look. However, I must remind the readers that this is Tokyo fashion and not that of Japan. We all know that the fashion sense in New York is nothing like the one in Dallas. The ideals of Paris are not the ideals of Southern France. Therefore, Tokyo does not represent Japan neither culturally nor fashionably, and yet it's a common mistake to assume so.

The women in Tokyo must be the hardest working, highest paying customers of beauty products. It seems most of the working women can't afford to go to their office without make-up. They would be perceived as unclean if they should ever appear without it. They also shave their arm hair, their legs, armpits, and pay extra close attention to their eyebrows and eyelashes. Beautiful eyes are those with double lids, heavy mascara, thick upper and lower lid eyeliner and a light-colored eye shadow. Eye-lid surgery, along with colored contact lenses, is very popular. For those who can't afford surgery, special glue and tape are sold to create the double eyelid as a temporary solution.

As for body shape, a large behind is not desirable in women, and it is better to have large breasts. Though not many Japanese women are born with large breasts. To solve this, breast enhancers of all varieties are sold from silicon cups to herbal medicines to even massages that claim to boost the breast size. Generally speaking, the women are very slim. The average woman is about 160 centimeters tall, or 5 feet and 3 inches. Weight loss advertisements, however, often portray women who used to weigh 58 kilograms (127 lbs) and now weigh 46 kilograms (101.5 lbs) thanks to this or that miracle solution! Everyone is very quick to notice if one has lost only one kilogram or so. And in come the compliments.

Hair is important too. Black is boring, instead, blonde, reddish brown, orange, and dark brown are in. Perms are very popular, making for a huge-curls hairdo. Big, purposely messed-up hair is the Shibuya girls' fashion. These same girls will sometimes tan to the extent o...

Teen fashion trends

There are many articles dedicated to fashion trends: trends for men or women, trends for kids and even for dogs. What about teens? Try to do a web search and you will see that finding nice guidelines about teen fashion trends is not as easy as it may seem. Why is it this way? The reason for this lack of information is teen fashion being more complicated than any other. Teenagers are fighting against society; they put a lot of effort to be different, but they also invent new trends and fashion styles.

The latest trend is EMO (emotional) style. EMO style is definitely for those who adore bright colors. Green, pink, red, yellow matched with black will undoubtedly make you noticeable. If you are into this style, you must have an appropriate hairdo: Zelda hairdo for girls and jet black mop top for boys. Pencil or at least cigarette-shaped jeans with studded belt is also a must-have. Rules for top are not that strict, you may choose anything you want, just be sure it's close-fitting and bright colored. You must wear large amounts jewelry and it's even better if you pierce your face (small lip ring would do perfectly). EMO style is perfect for those who wear glasses - it's a great accent and EMOs love nerdy ones.

Hip hop never goes out of fashion. Music that speaks street language is definitely for young rebellious souls. Hip-hop style for teen boys and girls is rather different. Boys are usually wearing baggy pants and t-shirt, while girls chose sexy outfits. Cap is a must for both. When it comes to colors - choose anything you want. Boys usually prefer blue jeans and white-colored top while girls are totally unpredictable. Girls wear big rounded earrings and boys must wear at least one ring.

What fashion designers have come up to this season is gothic youth. Although this fashion has existed for a number of years and has been discussed in various ways, it is the first time it is fashionable. Dressing all-black, coloring your hair black, using only black makeup means or even whitening your face to make everything else look even blacker is a hot trend. Choose big shoes with chunky heels; go for metal details all over your clothing and accessories and you're a perfect goth. No matter if you are wearing a short or a long skirt, a close fitting top or a loose one - it's ok as long as it's black.

Bohemian style is also fashionable among teenagers. Loose light colored clothes, wraps and wooden, stone or amber accessories will make you look like a real bohemian girl or boy. Peop...
